My name is Eva and I've been breeding dachshunds since 2001.   I fell in love with this breed when I adopted a little smooth red female named Autumn.  I was looking for a small dog that didn't take a lot of care.  Oscar and Jesse were the next to join my family, both smooths as well.   Ruby and Ozzie were my first longhairs, purchased in California.  Ruby had her first litter of puppies in Nevada when our kennel was known as "Blue Sky Kennels".   My breeding program is focused on producing one to three litters max per year.  At this time, we have only produced two litters per year.  Our puppies are hand raised from the moment they're born.  We take great care to give them lots of love and affection as well as proper conditioning to ensure you get a happy, healthy, well-adjusted puppy.  We are not back-yard breeders, and our operation is not a puppy mill.  We don't support puppy mills by buying breeding stock from them.  We don't sell to brokers or pet shops.  All of our dogs are indoor pets who in good weather, come and go as they please through a doggy door, to their outdoor dog run. Their main area inside is also our entertainment area, so we spend a lot of time with our "kids". Our dogs are bred for good health, great dispositions and conformation.  Those are the most important things. All of our dogs are AKC registered, and we have some nice champion lines in their backgrounds.

My love affair with the dachshund breed came about when I lived in Las Vegas, NV and visited a local breeder there that breeds smooth haired dachsies. There were literally a hundred dogs running around her ranch. Not knowing how much these dogs would mean to me shortly, we just wanted a pet that was easy to take care of as far as grooming and clean up.  So we picked out a 3 month old female who is known as Jesse Jane (the sable).  A few months later, some friends from New Hampshire came to visit.  I took them to Rosie's Ranch to see all the dogs.  I wasn't about to admit that I really wanted another dachshund to keep Jesse (and us) company.  There I saw a little male who was white with large chocolate colored spots and a chocolate colored head.  I fell in love with him immediately and brought him home to Jesse.  We named him Oscar (after the weiner). His pattern is called "piebald".   After hanging out with my dachsie doggy friends for awhile, researching the breed by going to dog shows, and talking to dachshund breeders, I realized that as much as I loved the easiness of caring for a smooth dachsie, I was really loving those longhaired beauties.  Since there were no longhaired breeders in Las Vegas I could locate, my research took me to California where there are many experienced, reliable and professional longhaired dachshund breeders.  I now have dogs from the west coast, east coast and down south.

A prospective buyer should be prepared to complete a "Puppy Application", which will give me enough information to confirm that a puppy will be going to a responsible and healthy environment. Dogs that are close to or meet the AKC standard can be considered as breeding or show quality, can be sold with full AKC registration, and cost more than the companion quality puppies.  Although the companion quality puppies (sold on a limited AKC registration, or spay/neuter contract) may not meet the "perfect" expectations of the AKC standard, they will far outnumber the dachshunds that do meet that standard and will make especially desirable, loving and sweet pets. Companion quality pups range from $400-$700, depending on color and coat.   Show or breeding quality pups range between $600-$900, depending on gender, color, coat, conformation and pedigree. Deposits to hold puppies will be taken when the pups are 3 weeks old, or earlier if the buyer so desires. Final payments on a puppy must be paid by US Postal Service money order or cash, and must be paid 10 days prior to pick up of the puppy. Tiny Tails Ranch puppies will be ready to go to new owners at 10-12 weeks of age.  They will have had their veterinary treatment appropriate to their age, i.e., deworming, vaccinations, and a health check-up.   Puppies will come with a supply of high quality puppy food to get them through the first few days, puppy treats, and their favorite play toy. New owners will get the dog's AKC papers if appropriate, veterinary history, a health certificate, a two-year written health guarantee against life threatening genetic defects and an informative book about dachshunds. A formal sales contract will be signed by the buyer and breeder that outlines the agreement between the breeder and buyer, notes deposit and final payment information, as well as breeder's and buyer's responsibilities.  It might sound like a lot of red tape, but being a responsible breeder assures a wonderful, healthy and happy match for buyers and puppies alike.

As always, I will be available anytime to answer questions and provide guidance to you as your puppy grows.

Please email any time or call if you have any questions.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

   Eva
